Rotherham Safeguarding Awareness Week 2020 goes virtual

In the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, Rotherham’s Safeguarding Awareness Week, 16-20 November 2020 looked very different this year. All our events, communications and conversations were online. We used social media and our websites to highlight real and important safeguarding matters which affect communities and individuals across Rotherham.

During the week activity was shared on social media and went a long way to starting conversations about safeguarding. We encouraged people to use the hashtags #SAW20 #safeguardingweek20 #training #awareness.

Partners from Health and Rotherham Council reported the following activity:

  • Tweets were seen 28,450 times

  • People interacted with the tweets over 3000 times

  • 700 clicked Facebook links - demonstrating excellent engagement

  • Rotherham partners ran their own Internal promotions throughout the week which reached 25,000 recipients.
