Workshop - Contextualised Safeguarding - Tuesday 17th November 14:00–16:00 - Microsoft Teams

Youth Offending Service
As children move into adolescence, they spend more time out of the family home and away from parental supervision. They may start to spend more time with their peers whether this is out in the community or at school and on online platforms. This may increase exposure to exploitation and other forms of abuse so this workshop is aimed at professionals, volunteers, agencies and services who may come into contact with these young people, considering indicators of harm, extra-familial abuse and how risk and harm can be reduced.
RSCP use a Self-Booking system. All users must be registered onto the system before they are able to book onto training.

ICON training - Thursday 19th November 16:00-16:30 - Microsoft Teams
Run By: Lee Oughton, Lead General Practitioner – Primary Care/Out of Hours GP Service
Julia Toft, Named Nurse Safeguarding Children Nursing and Quality
ICON have recently launched a campaign to support parents/carers with ways of coping with crying babies. This training contains clear messages that represents the ICON approach in managing crying babies. This advice is not solely for health agencies. Similar to the Safe Sleep Campaign, ALL practitioners should take the opportunity, where they can, to be professionally curious about parental stresses and coping with a newborn baby. It is important for parents to understand these messages…
I : Infant crying is normal and it will stop
C: Comfort methods can sometimes soothe a baby and crying will stop
O: It’s ok to walk away for a short period of time if you have checked the baby is safe and the crying is getting to you
N: Never Ever shake or hurt a baby

Who for?
Staff or volunteers who visit adults in their own homes, this will include housing staff, community nurses, domiciliary care workers, advocates, maintenance staff (repairs), social work staff etc.
Brief outline of the event:
Fraud is a worldwide problem, victims are from all walks of life, some are often without family or friends. Shame, embarrassment and guilt can prevent some adults from speaking out leaving them to suffer in silence. Each session will incorporate information about the various types of fraud affecting vulnerable adults. This includes the emerging threats, existing themes, MO’s of offenders and advice on reducing the risk of becoming a victim.
Today's digital world is incredibly exciting. Unfortunately, the growth and evolution of the internet has also unlocked potential for criminal abuse. Cyber-crime is unfortunately a rapidly expanding area - more than four out of five fraud offences reported nationally are cyber-enabled.
In addition, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, individuals have become more reliant than ever upon the internet. This gives fraudsters even more opportunities to exploit victims online.
You might be the only person who can spot the signs and help the adult stop the fraud.
