There are a number of signs to look out for if you suspect a young person is being sexually and/or criminally exploited, including:

Staying out all night or being regularly missing from home or school.
- Changes in behaviour or behaving aggressively to other members of the public.
- Unexplained gifts or new possessions or carrying/using large quantities of cash.
- Having a significantly older boyfriend/girlfriend, or being accompanied by groups of older individuals.
- Becoming increasingly secretive.
- A sudden change in friendship groups.
- Changes in physical appearance.
- Spending excessive amounts of time online or on their mobile phone, receiving frequent messages and calls, or being in possession of more than one phone.
- Someone shouting or displaying violence or aggression towards a young person or instructing and appearing to control them.
- Sudden involvement in crime or sudden increase in criminal offending.
- Sexual health problems.
If you suspect a child is at risk of exploitation, always report it.
