Spot the Signs of Child Exploitation

There are a number of signs to look out for if you suspect a young person is being sexually and/or criminally exploited, including:

Staying out all night or being regularly missing from home or school.
Changes in behaviour or behaving aggressively to other members of the public.
Unexplained gifts or new possessions or carrying/using large quantities of cash.
Having a significantly older boyfriend/girlfriend, or being accompanied by groups of older individuals.
Becoming increasingly secretive.
A sudden change in friendship groups.
Changes in physical appearance.
Spending excessive amounts of time online or on their mobile phone, receiving frequent messages and calls, or being in possession of more than one phone.
Someone shouting or displaying violence or aggression towards a young person or instructing and appearing to control them.
Sudden involvement in crime or sudden increase in criminal offending.
Sexual health problems.

If you suspect a child is at risk of exploitation, always report it.
