Child sexual exploitation - who can help boys

Child Sexual Exploitation - who can help boys?

You have a say in your life.

  • Are you under 18?
  • Getting free drink or drugs?
  • Getting presents too?
  • Hanging round with older men or women?
  • Staying out all night?
  • Doing stuff you wouldn’t be allowed to do at home?
  • Having sex with men or women you don’t want to?
  • Worried what people might think if they found out?
  • Feeling trapped – scared – alone?
  • Someone threatening you?

If this is happening to you or someone you know, there is a way out – we can help.

When you think of young people who may be sexually exploited or taken advantage of by older adults or you think about young people who are selling sex or having sex in return for money or gifts, you might picture this happening to a girl.

But it’s not only girls who get involved in this, it happens to boys as well.

Some boys may find themselves being forced into having sex because they are threatened, scared to say no, or because it is a way of getting money to survive. They may have a drug habit and selling sex might seem the only way to get the cash to buy them.

Whatever the reason, no adult has the right to have sex with you – they are the ones that are doing wrong.

If this is happening to you or someone you know, you can talk to someone. They will listen without judging you and can help. They know it is not your fault and you are not to blame for what is happening to you.

The adults who have taken advantage of you are responsible and they are the people who have done something wrong.

You are not to blame if this is happening to you.
