Safeguarding and protecting children in sport

Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU)

The Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) is a partnership between the NSPCC Sport England, Sport Northern Ireland and Sport Wales. The Unit was founded to work with UK Sports Councils, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), County Sports Partnerships (CSPs) and other organisations to help them minimise the risk of child abuse during sporting activities.

Partnership Check and Challenge Tool

Available on the CPSU website is a simple-to-use checklist called the Partnership Check and Challenge Tool for use when providing sport activities for children and young people, intended to help ensure young participants will be safe and looked after during these activities.

West Yorkshire Sport Foundation

The Yorkshire Sport Foundation supports the work of local, regional and national organisations and is a County Sports Partnership, supporting organisations across the nine districts of South Yorkshire and West Yorkshire.

Sport England

Sport England ensures the organisations they fund are well-governed, supporting good governance, finance and internal control frameworks and practices. Good governance is an essential element of their sports recognition process.
